Tuesday was about re-realizing community. It was our second academic day with all of us back together since kayak rotations, and campus was now alive again, with all forty-seven of us doing this and that around campus. Hello, greetings, good morning to you all.
We shall relay the day’s happenings, since we cannot call.
We had extended exercise in the morning, and we all got real fit.
After breakfast we attended humeco, history, or lit.
Walking into lunch we were all suddenly awakened,
For before our eyes laid some lettuce, tomato, and bacon.
We had five hours of research in the fine afternoon.
Aquaculture harvested Cobia, not too late not too soon.
Patch Reefs went out in the field and speared some lionfish.
They ended up with 12, more than they had wished.
The day ended with some study hours and the stress did ensue,
Because the next day our research results were finally due.
We went to bed exhausted, but pleased with the day.
And that is what happened on the 7th of May.

They were enthusiastically singing this song in memory of their great adventure.]
Today was exciting. The beginning of the AP test series (consists of a brutally long day in a vehicle), Human Ecology (life lessons from Remo Velardo), Literature (Omeros is so close to making sense, if you cut words off the page and then put them in different orders you can make something almost understandable), Histories (Preparing for a field adventure into the wilds of ancient plantations), Art (It’s self portrait time; some people dug holes to represent themselves – don’t read too deep into it), and Hamburger Day (We’re all alone on campus too, we usually only get burgers when Maxey is in town).

Morning exercise was led by Hadley and Erin. We worked out, jumped around, danced and had a great time participating in the Island School version of Zumba for an hour. The music got us pumped up for Legacy Day. Sixteen of the twenty-three students on campus helped dig holes in the rough soil and plant baby palm trees around the bike shed circle. Continue reading

Today was the third day of the second academic kayak rotation, and we had an art day in which we spent our morning working on our self portrait projects. After lunch, we left for community outreach where the 7th graders did a community cleanup, followed by tamarind cups, and the 8th graders went to Rock Sound to interview local residents about their public service announcement topics.
