Our admissions season kicked off with the first reception in Grand Rapids. Island School alumni, interested students and families, and participants of our Teacher’s Conference gathered at the home of Dave and Bev Verdier, Cape Eleuthera Island School board member and alumni parents of Renee S’03, Travis S’05, and Eric S’09. There was a great turnout at the event and many of our alumni left feeling inspired to continue to spread the world about The Island School in their home towns. Please check out our Upcoming Events to see if we will be coming to a town or school near you!

We did it again and came back for round two–the Second Annual Nantucket Run-Swim! On July 12, 2014 The Island School with hosts, The Parizeau Family, rolled out a modified Run-Swim course to a group of excited IS alumni, parents, and friends of the school. With double the turnout as last year, it was a competitive field of recent alums all the way through to impressive parents who showed us that The Island School spirit lives strong.
Charlie Mounts (S’14) clinched the win with Doug Parizeau (S’06) in second and and Ernie Parizeau (P’F’03, S’06, S’10, S’14) not far behind in third. The weather was perfect and we could not have asked for a better day. After the race, all participants and cheerleaders were rewarded with an evening BBQ hosted by The Parizeau Family. For more photos from the day, click here.
With the Third Annual now less than a year away, we hope you are all training and we can’t wait to see you in Nantucket in July 2015!

The Island School is celebrating its 15 year anniversary this year and a few weeks ago, we asked for your help in choosing the design for our commemorative 15 year celebration t-shirts. Thanks to your votes, and collaboration with Fall 1999 alumni Thatcher Spring and Barrett Summerlin, the t-shirts are now available for purchase online!
The t-shirts are being sold through Thatcher and Barrett’s startup, GearLaunch, which lets individuals and organizations design and sell custom apparel to their audiences with no upfront costs or distribution challenges. The shirts are from Recover Brands, the same company that prints and distributes our uniform t-shirts. All of their apparel is created from 100% recycled materials.
The shirts are only being sold for one month so act fast and help us celebrate 15 years of The Island School by rocking one of these limited edition t-shirts!
