Cacique Update May 30, 2011

by Caciques Emma and J-wow (Jessica)

Today was a day of completion and celebration.  This morning was the last day of swim or run track.  Swim track did a final timed swim assessment around Triangle Cut to see how they have improved since the beginning of the semester.  All swimmers successfully beat their original time, and most even improved their times from mid-semester.  Run track did yoga to stretch and recover from the half marathon they completed the day before.  Then, we had our last Literature of the Sea class and Histories of The Bahamas class.  It is a bittersweet feeling to be done with classes; we are all happy to be done with Omeros and our other assignments, but at the same time it means we are getting closer and closer to the end of the semester.  We had a 2-hour block math class today and had a chance to work on our final portfolios.  A portfolio is an organized display of all the work we’ve done here this semester that will be sent to our sending school and colleges.  Then we had Exploration where students did a variety of things.  Evan, who has been learning to ride a bike all semester, successfully rode from the marina store to the bike shed!  During study hours we worked on our final Marine Ecology group projects and then headed off to bed.
