Caciques: Hammy and Lea

Following Island School tradition, we started the last morning of orientation with a two-mile run to High Rock with a surprise at the end.  While all of us were exhausted from the run and baking from the sun, we were allowed to make the fifteen-foot jump off of High Rock.  Although some students were nervous and others were comfortable with the jump, we all jumped together signifying the unity within our community.  Feeling refreshed, we all ran back to school.

We then loaded up the bus to go to Jack’s Bay for a day at the beach.  We packed soccer balls, footballs, Frisbees, and had an awesome time playing pick-up games.  Eventually, we all wore ourselves out and most of us resorted to napping on the beach and enjoying the gorgeous view.

After our day at the beach we arrived back on campus and dressed up for dinner and closing ceremony for orientation.  When the ceremony ended we all enjoyed s’mores at the bonfire on Boy’s Dorm Beach.  Even though we’re sad orientation is over, we are all looking forward to starting our research projects and settling into classes.
