As the sun set over the Exuma Sound on Friday, August 20th, family and friends gathered on Sunset Beach at Cape Eleuthera to witness Chris and Pam Maxey exchange vows. After almost nine years of separation, Chris and Pam decided it was time to reunite with a wedding ceremony on Eleuthera. Almost 100 guests, plus faculty and staff of The Island School, Cape Eleuthera Institute, and Deep Creek Middle School joined the Maxey family in celebration of their marriage.
At the altar Chris and Pam were joined by their four children: Brittany, 21; Brocq, 19; Tyler, 15; and Tegan, 14. John Norris Carey, longtime friend of Chris and Pam and construction manager of all Island School buildings, presided over the ceremony. Pam wore a dress by well-known designer Pamella Roland, mother of Island School alumna Sydney Devos (F06).
After the ceremony guests enjoyed perfect Bahamian weather while feasting on food catered by The Beach House, out of Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera, and danced to the rake ‘n scrape tunes of South Eleuthera’s band, the Rum Runners. It was the perfect evening to celebrate the reunion of The Island School’s founding couple. Congratulations to the Maxeys!
